 What is Sulphur recovery?

Sulphur recovery is the process of converting hydrogen sulphide (H2S) into elemental sulfur. The Claus process is the most famous method for this process. Why is Sulphur recuperation necessary?

The working of a Sulphur healing unit explained

Claus reactors utilize the Claus process to create sulfur healing devices, using hydrogen sulphides to shape sulfur dioxide (SO2) and reacting in a 2:1 ratio. Claus condensers recover sulphur, while Clause catalysts continue the reaction.

Major adsorbents used in Sulphur removal

Molecular sieves, made from synthetic zeolite, are used to adsorb sulphur compounds and CO2 from bitter gases. These sieves are of four sizes, depending on the chemical system of the zeolite. Molecular sieves 3A, 4A, 5A, and 13X are used in various industries, separating large particles from smaller ones through their pores. Activated alumina, made from aluminum hydroxide, is a popular and excellent adsorbent with high surface area and pore size, making it suitable for various industries.
